Natural Fiber Guide is an editorially independent publication. This page explains exactly what we will and will not accept from brands and retailers, and how the site is funded.
What we do not accept
- Sponsored placements or "advertorial" coverage. No brand has paid for inclusion in any of our guides. There is no paid mention anywhere on this site.
- Free product samples in exchange for coverage. If we accept a sample for hands-on testing, we say so explicitly in the relevant article, and the article remains free to be critical.
- Paid reviews. Period.
How we make money
Natural Fiber Guide is run as a long-term editorial reference. There is no paywall, no newsletter pitching products, no display advertising, and no programmatic ad networks. We do not collect personal data beyond what cookies are necessary for the site to function (see our privacy notice).
Affiliate disclosure
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Some of the product picks on this site link to Amazon. When you click an Amazon link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate participation never determines what we cover, how we rank fibers, or which products we recommend. Editorial decisions are made independently of which products happen to be available through any affiliate program. We do not place tracked affiliate links on any product we wouldn\'t recommend independently.
The Amazon links on this site are marked with rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" so search engines treat them correctly, and the editorial banner at the top of each affiliate-bearing page makes the relationship visible before any link appears.
Editorial process
Our editorial process is documented in detail on our about page. Briefly:
- Every claim about a fiber's properties is sourced from agricultural science, textile-history scholarship, or production-standards documentation (GOTS, OCS, RWS, GRS, ZQ Merino, RAS, OEKO-TEX, FSC).
- Guides are revised at least annually; the "Updated" date on each page reflects the most recent substantive edit.
- One named editor — currently the Founding Editor, Elena Marchetti — is accountable for every claim on every page. Corrections are made promptly when errors are reported.
Corrections and questions
If you find an error, see a missing citation, or want to ask how a particular relationship works in practice, write to us. We read every message and correct errors in the article itself, with a dated note where the correction is material.
